At an event held on May 13,the Attorney General’s Department of Sri Lanka launched a modern training center. Operations were set up, using support extended by America. New advancements also include: an electronic system to track cases and legal files as well as the Attorney General’s Department website.
The U.S has embarked on a mission to strengthen access to Justice globally, while promoting good governance. Commenting on this U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Martin Kelly said that this in turn will protect human dignity and boost economic growth; while ensuring that the administration of justice within Sri Lanka, is made more efficient.
The training facility includes research facilities, an auditorium, boardroom,computer laboratory and other facilities.
Attorney General Dappula De Livera, commented saying that this was a historic first for the Department, and will contribute significantly towards learning and professional development in the field.
