Litro Gas Ltd. to set up an oxygen plant

Litro Gas Lanka Ltd has made plans to set up an Oxygen plant in Sri Lanka, for the purpose of meeting the demand for Oxygen, amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. 

With a 75% market share and a network of 42 distributors, over 14,000 points-of-sale, 1,500 home delivery hubs Litro Gas Lanka Ltd performs an invaluable service to the country. 

The current supply to the market is sufficient to meet the daily demand for Oxygen– 90 metric tonnes. However Health authorities have warned that the Health sector will soon need larger quantities of Oxygen, in order to treat Covid-19 patients in Sri Lanka. Therefore President Gotabaya Raajapakse has instructed the Presidential Task Force to set up an oxygen plant, in order to avoid a shortage in future.

A state of the art industrial complex will be set up, to manufacture oxygen.The Board of Directors of Litro Gas Lanka has announced the decision to set up a modern oxygen manufacturing plant and a distribution network would be set up on the 25 acre land in Kerawalapitiya. The project will be carried out under the guidance of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

An agreement was signed on June 2, between the officials of Litro Gas Lanka and Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation. Accordingly a 25 acre land has been handed over by Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation to Litro Gas Lanka, in order to set up the Oxygen plant. Following the valuation of land by the state, a deposit of Rs 500 million has been made as an advance payment towards the purchase of the land.
