Accordingly, requests have been made from Switzerland, France and Germany in this regard. Responding on behalf of these countries, ambassadors have confirmed that Mr. Jayasuriya’s request has been acknowledged.

This request was made following discussions held by Mr. Jayasuriya, involving both the  United Nations (UN) and officials from the relevant countries. He also urged the UN to help secure the surplus of vaccines from Switzerland, France and Germany, through the COVAX grant scheme currently being offered to some countries in need of covid-19 relief aid.
