According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, McDonald’s Corp. is temporarily closing its US offices this week to notify corporate employees about impending layoffs as part of a broader restructuring plan.
Last week, the company sent an internal email to US employees and some international staff instructing them to work from home between Monday and Wednesday. This will allow the company to make staffing decisions virtually.
In January, McDonald’s announced its plan to cut corporate jobs and eliminate certain initiatives, even as it accelerates new store openings. The fast-food giant stated that the job cuts would be finalised by April 3.
Data shows that the company had around 150,000 employees as of the end of 2022
